Einsingen um 9 was started in March 2020. Suddenly, due to Corona, choir rehearsals were no longer allowed and the singers Barbara Böhi and Julia Schiwowa had the idea of a daily live singing.
We are happy that there will be a daily warm-up especially for Voices of Spirit.

  • Mia Makaroff (* 1970) is a composer, arranger, music teacher and choir director. In 2003 she graduated at the Sibelius Academy with a Master of Music in Music Education.   • Thomas Caplin (1960) Professor, conductor, composer specializes within the psychological/pedagogical aspects of choral leadership, coupled with the traditional perspectives of choral conducting and the overall running of a choir including all aspects. Another specialty is the cross field between classical and rhythmical singing and conducting. He is frequently engaged as guest conductor and clinician, and as adjudicator in competitions.

  • Andrés García is the musical director of the wu chor wien and the new madrigal choir. The conductor, who comes from Colombia, grew up in a musically very open-minded environment. At the age of eight he began his classical piano training. He completed his academic training as a conductor at the Eafit University in Medellín, Colombia.

Hits for Accompanying a Church Service

This workshop presents in a compact form creative possibilities for vocal worship services off the beaten track. As an example, six pieces of music from the following areas will be presented and “tasted” while singing: Gregorian chant, improvisation, Taizé, jazz, renaissance and contemporary music. Possibilities for interaction between choir, congregation and soloists are also shown.
  • Michael Schadler was born in Graz in 1989. The church musician, choir director and organist is musically at home in many styles. He particularly enjoys singing with people of all ages and origins. As a speaker for church music, the quality and diversity of church music is a particular concern of his.

Singing Chorales – but How? A Crash Course for Beginners

  • Praßl studied Catholic theology (PhD 1987), Catholic church music, choir conducting and conducting in Graz. A special course in Gregorian palaeography and semiology took place in Essen. Since 1989 he has been professor for Gregorian chant at the University of Art in Graz. Praßl conducted the Gregorian chant at the mass for the inauguration of Pope Francis, as he teaches Gregorian chant at the papal music academy, the Pontificio Istituto di Musica Sacra.

30 Steps to Sight-Read in Singing

The Cologne choir school, which has been tried and tested in practice for many years, relies on relative solmization in connection with voice training exercises. The authors of the textbook provide handy and clear material that can be integrated into regular rehearsals without extensive preparation. Andrea Fournier will present in her workshop and from her practice with “30 Steps to Sight Reading in Singing”.

  • Andrea Fournier is a choir director and organist. One of her focal points is intensive work with children and youth choirs, including with the children and youth choirs at the city parish church in Graz. Since 2010 she has also directed the Graz Opera Singing School and has a teaching position for children’s choir conducting at the Mozarteum Salzburg.
